Issaquah and Snoqualmie E-News

May 27, 2010

PRINCIPAL FOR THE DAY

On Friday, May 21, the “reins” of St. Joseph School were handed over to Audrey M., Principal for the Day at the Issaquah Campus.  Audrey discharged her duties exceptionally, granting extra recess, calling a 50's free dress day, cancelled math for an art project, announced prayer and the pledge to name just a few of her directives.  She was escorted to her lunch restaurant choice, Triple XXX, with Mrs. Johnston and Mrs. Waldo.  She visited all of the Issaquah classrooms, with her school badge and whistle,  and enjoyed the opportunity to visit and take suggestions for the day!  Watch for pictures of this big day in the upcoming yearbook.  Well done Audrey.

Art and Science Fair

Our St.  Joseph Art and Science Fair was held on Thursday evening, May 20th at our Snoqualmie Campus. The students worked very hard on their projects and were well prepared for the presentations that they gave to our parents and judges that evening. Mrs. Skip decorated our halls with incredible examples of student artwork and was able to spend time with students and parents as well. Overall, the Art and Science Fair was fun and a great success. Thank you everyone who helped with this terrific event.

And the winners for the Science Fair are...... 4th Graders - Allie M. and Robin C., and  5th Grader - Sean S. Great job!

Adult Enrichment: Romero

Join us on Monday, June 7th at 7:00 PM in McGirl Hall for a showing of the movie Romero. As the Archbishop of San Salvador during El Salvador’s brutal civil war, Romero became the “bishop of the poor.” Calling for international intervention to protect those being killed by government forces, Romero was assassinated on March 24, 1980. Archbishop Romero still challenges us to restructure our world, “in which growing disparity in wealth, increasing human misery and social violence, and ecological devastation exist as a result of human sin.” Don’t miss the opportunity to view this important movie. All are welcome!

 Parish Food Drive - Ongoing

Are you going to eat that? The soup you don’t have room for. The vegetables that were on sale. The cereal your baby doesn’t like. If it’s good food—unopened and unexpired—the Issaquah Food Bank really needs it. St. Joseph makes it even easier for you to participate! A parish volunteer delivers donations once a week from St. Joseph to the Issaquah Food Bank. Just bring your food donations to the church and drop them off in the boxes downstairs next to the elevator.

The Parish Office will be closed on Monday, May 31st in observance of Memorial Day.
