Book Fair

St Joseph Scholastic Book fair at Issaquah & Snoqualmie Campus Monday, Oct 5th thru Monday,  Oct 12th

The book fair will  be open for sales daily before and after school and during lunch.  We have a wide selection of books from pre-reading thru middle school, cookbooks and even a few best sellers.  Students will visit the fair at their campus Monday Oct 5th for a preview so look for a list of titles selected by your student.

Snoqualmie Book fair Homepage: http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/stjosephsnoqualmie

Proceeds from the book fair build our classroom and school libraries and are divided among our teachers and librarians.  At the book fair, look for the Classroom Wish lists created by our teachers – it’s a great opportunity to donate books directly to a teacher or classroom.  You may also purchase a gift certificate for a teacher or classroom so they may select items they need for the classroom.

One for books – look for our $1 for books donation box at the fair.  Donations collected at the book fair will be used to purchase books for the St Joseph Parish library.  Scholastic matches every dollar donation with a book donation to one of their charities. For more information about this program, visit the fair homepage.

Payments accepted at the fair include cash, checks and credit card for payments – please make checks payable to St Joseph.

If you have any questions or need more information, please contact Michele.Simmons (wdwminnie1@msn.com) or Darla Gatte (theonlydarla@yahoo.com)

Book fair Hours:

The book fair will  be open for sales at each campus daily before and after school and during lunch.  The Issaquah fair will also be open over the weekend of Oct 10-11th after masses.

Since the 4th – 8th grades need less assistance selecting titles, we’re trying to offer them more opportunities to shop the book fair.

**Snoqualmie campus only, students that bring a form of payment to school may obtain a lunch recess pass to the book fair to make purchases.

** Snoqualmie Only – We’ll have a cashier on hand for the Snoqualmie student preview Monday Oct 5th, so student that have a form of payment, may make purchases during the student preview.

Pet Food Drive

The First Grade is sponsoring a “Pet Food Drive” as part of their service project. Pet Food will be collected October 5th-8th in honor of S. Francis’ Feast Day on Oct. 4th!  The Seattle Humane Society is always looking for donations of pet food, supplies, toys and cat litter. Many of these items are distributed through their Pet Food Bank for low-income senior pet owners and through Pet Project, which helps pet owners disabled with AIDS.  Can you help us this year?  Thank You!

Parent/Student Handbook

Revisions and Addendum to the Parent/Student Handbook

Today in your Thursday envelope you will find three new pages to replace revised policies. The pages are numbered and should be very easy to replace in your Parent/Student handbook. The handbook is in your white family “mini” binder which also holds your SJS directory. The following revision and addendum have been made:

Addendum.09.23.09.MMJ – Page 34

Under Illness and Injury

When a student is injured a note from the parent is required to excuse their student from P.E. for the day. A student with a more serious injury requires a note from a doctor stating how long the student is expected to be excused from P.E. A note is also required for the student to resume participation. A student wearing a cast, brace, splint, boot etc that is rigid, may not participate in P.E. activities due to injury risk to other students.

Revision.09.23.09.MMJ – Page 48 (please replace pages 47,48,49 & 50)

Under Uniforms

Shoes must have a back (no clogs), no boots, no high-top tennis shoes, and no sandals or platforms allowed.
