Robotics Class Competition
St. Joseph Robotics Class would like to invite everyone to the FIRST
Lego League Regional Competition on Saturday, December 5th. The
competition is at Aviation High School School, 615 S. 200th St., Des
Moines, WA 98198. The event runs from 12:00 pm until 4:00 pm. Good Luck

Christmas Concert
December 15, 2009 at MQP
Please plan to attend our wonderful annual
Christmas Concert on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 starting at 6:30pm at
Mary, Queen of Peace Church in Sammamish. Band students should arrive
at 6:00 pm and all other students who are in the program should arrive
at 6:15 pm and be seated with their teacher. All students should wear
their Sunday best. Please be sure your student has eaten dinner before
coming to the program.
Volunteer Opportunity
There are opportunities for parents to earn
volunteer time and see the concert. The teachers always appreciate
extra help sitting with the students during the program. If you are
available, please contact your teacher directly.
FINANCIAL AID INFORMATION FOR THE 2010-2011 SCHOOL YEAR:
Fulcrum foundation is now accepting applications for financial
assistance for the 2010-2011 school year. You must follow the
directions on their website for the application procedure. If we
receive incomplete applications your application will be returned and
not reviewed. The deadline for applications is February 12, 2010. You
must complete the application online and turn in all appropriate forms
directly to the school. Please put “To: Carol Willard Confidential”.
I am the coordinator for our school and will be mailing in all of the
forms directly to Fulcrum. Their website is :

Financial Award letters will be sent out from Fulcrum on April 15, 2010.
St. Joseph School award letters will be sent out the end of April 2010.

Advent Projects
Below you will find a list by class and the charitable organization they
will be collecting for. All items are due to the classroom by December
16, 2009.
Preschool – “Nurse Nancy” for her mission in the Dominican Republic. We
are collecting newborn cotton caps (can be purchased 3-per pack at
Target).
Kindergarten – Eastside Baby Corner, Simple toys for babies age 1
to 2.
First Grade – Eastside Baby Corner - Jeans/Pants size 4,5,6,7,8,
and 10.
Second Grade – Eastside Baby Corner - Children’s hats,
gloves, socks, jackets, and sweatshirts
Third Grade – Echo Glenn Children’s Center, this is a co-educational
juvenile rehabilitation center that focuses on the needs of younger and
special needs adolescent children. Items needed are; art supplies, board
games, puzzles, word search, hand held games, basketballs, Nerf balls,
battery operated walkman, CD’s.
4th through 8th Grade – Snoqualmie Campus – Encompass Holiday Boxes – We
will collecting gift cards or certificates to put in the Holiday Boxes
this year. Suggested gift cards: Factory Outlet Mall in North Bend,
Target, Gasoline Cards, Grocery Cards, Haircuts, and Fred Meyers.

Parents' Club
Please join us at the monthly Parents' Club meeting on December 7th
after drop off in the Blessed John room on the Issaquah campus. Come and
meet fellow parents and hear what's happening at St. Joseph School

It’s Pizza Time Again
The next pizza form is available please
click here. All forms are due to the office by Monday, January 11th!
Pizza lunches for 2010 will start on Friday, January 22nd. There will be
one more form in 2010 for the last trimester.
Please remember that the Snoqualmie campus students ONLY will have the
opportunity to pre-pay for an additional slice of cheese pizza only.
Issaquah campus students will continue to have the choice of cheese or
pepperoni.
Make checks payable to St. Joseph Parents’ Club. Please provide one form
per student and one check per family. Sign up now as no orders received
after January 11th will be accepted.

AUCTION
Auction News!
We would like to extend
our most heartfelt gratitude for your generous support in procurement,
donations, sponsorship (www.sjsissaquah.org),
purchases and fund-an-item donations at our Faithful Friends dinner
auction held on November 21!!! The success that it was, would not have been
possible without everyone’s generosity and for the many volunteers that
made the night happen--for this we are very blessed!!! We are looking
forward to sharing our numbers with you very soon. In the meantime, we
welcome your compliments and comments.
A few housekeeping
notes, several certificates that were generated by the auction committee
will be sent via email, other certificates purchased on the night of the
auction that were not picked up will be coming home in the Thursday
envelope along with auction statements. If you do not receive your
statement or certificate today, it will be mailed to you. Please take a few minutes to
check your statement. This statement will also reflect any donations
that qualify for company matching programs. Please note more and more
companies are having employees complete this online. This is a great
opportunity for us to further the success of the auction.

in Mrs. Wieks class marched in the Seattle Thanksgiving Macy's Day Parade with
her "Connect All Star" cheer team. Way to go

Encompass
The 7th and 8th grade students from St. Joseph Middle School
stepped up to the challenge to help with the Encompass
Respectful Giving Campaign on Wednesday, November 18. Food was sorted,
stacked, and organized while boxes were assembled and
wrapped. All hands were on deck for the cause and students
out did themselves working hard and furiously to accomplish
the task.

Christmas Concert
There are opportunities for parents
to earn volunteer time and see the concert. The teachers always
appreciate extra help sitting with the students during the
program. If you are available, please contact your teacher

Wanted: Marketing Expert(s)
for School Development
Enrollment for the coming school year is just around the corner. We’re
looking for a 2-3 volunteers to help develop and implement (no you don’t
just get to talk about it, you have to do it to) a targeted marketing
plan to drive up enrollment at our school. SJS is a great place for
kids and families alike and produces outstanding results. We’d like a
team to help us spread the word. Some potential projects that are on
the horizon:

GIS work on current, alumni, and prospective school families
-
Developing a marketing plan to drive enrollment at the school for
this year and years to come.
-
Implementing the plan.
-
Designing, implementing and analyzing surveys of parish families
with school age children that don’t send their children to SJS or
other Catholic schools.
If you have a background in business development and implementation of
marketing plans, are goal oriented and data driven, we’d love to have
your help. If you’re interested, please contact the School Commission
President, Kurt Soldenwagner.
Volunteers Needed
There are still several volunteer
opportunities available for this coming school year, such as
Parents' Club VP, Volunteer Coordinator, Homeroom Coordinator
for Issaquah, Walk-a-Thon Chairs and Mariners Night Chair.
Remember, you are required to fulfill
a total of 45 hours, with 5 hours devoted to the auction. Please
look under the Auction News for volunteer ideas.

ANNUAL HOLIDAY WREATH PARTY
This fun parish event will take
place on Sunday, December 6th In McGirl Hall. Wreath
making begins at 4:00 PM followed by a blessing of the
wreaths by Fr. Bryan at 5:00 PM. Bring your wreath
forms, tools, wire, greenery, ribbon, and Christmas snacks
to share! Forms and candles will be available for sale by
our parish’s St. Vincent de Paul group. Hope to see everyone
there!
