For Families & Students - Extended Care
 

Extended Care supports success in school, academically, socially, and physically. This program aims to provide a safe community where students can begin to exercise choice while developing their sense of personal responsibility. Extended Care provides a balance between individual and group activities, quiet study time and homework time as well as time to relax with friends.

Hours: Daily from 7 am - 8:50 am, and 3:20 pm - 6 pm

A typical afternoon schedule for Extended Care is:

3:20-3:45    Snack, attendance and announcements
3:45-4:15    Active playtime
4:15-5:00    Quiet homework/choice time
5:00-6:00    Free choice time

Extended Care is also available on some days when there is no school, on most early dismissal days, and on a drop-in basis, according to availability. Extended Care is available for Preschool students after they reach their 5th birthday.

This is NO Extended Care on the following days:

     Monday, November 12, 2012 - Veterans' Day
     Monday, January 21, 2013 - Martin Luther King Jr. Day
     Friday, May 24, 2013 - start of the Memorial Day holiday weekend

Billing Information

Extended Care charges are billed on your monthly statement and are not pre-paid. The monthly period used to calculate your fee is generally from the 21st of each month through the 20th of the next month. 

The cost for Extended Care is based on use per child (not the total family) according to the following rates:

1-15 hours/month

$5.00/hour

16-30 hours/month

$4.75/hour

31-60 hours/month

$4.50/hour

61 hours or more/month

$4.25/hour

Scheduled Drop-in Rate

$5.50/hour

Late fee (after 6 pm)

$1.00/minute

Afternoon non-scheduled use

$5.00/15 minutes
 
Minimum use for any morning Extended Care session is 15 minutes. 
Minimum use for any afternoon Extended Care session is 30 minutes. 
Non-scheduled use rates are charged for students using Extended Care without signing up by 3:20 pm on day of use.

Registration Information

There are two ways to sign-up for Extended Care:

Commitment Calendar: Regular users are encouraged to use the Commitment Calendar forms to schedule use for each billing period. These are available on the website two weeks before the beginning of each period. Use of these Commitment Calendars is the only way to guarantee availability for your child in Extended Care. You are charged for all the hours you “reserve” using the Commitment Calendar.

Drop In use: Call the Issaquah office to sign-up for Drop-in care.  You may sign-up for only one day at a time. Space is not guaranteed for Drop-In use.
