This
is the seventh in an ongoing effort to inform parents and parishioners
of the progress of our Major Gift Effort for the purchase and expansion of
the Snoqualmie Campus. This is an incredible opportunity and the Focus On
Our Future Committee wishes to thank those who have already generously
stepped forward to support this effort.
Project
Progress
The
Focus on our Future Committee and
St. Joseph Parish and School are pleased to announce the purchase of the
Snoqualmie Campus as of April 20, 2005. With deep appreciation, we thank all
of the parishioners at St. Joseph and Mary, Queen of Peace and parents who
have contributed to this effort with their cash donations for this project.
We are also grateful for those who have pledged gifts to this project, as
your future cash contributions will be critical to the success of the
expansion phase. This is a very
exciting time for both parishes and St. Joseph School as we move one step
closer to providing greater K-8 Catholic education opportunities to
communities on the eastside.
Expansion
Phase
The
project now changes direction and focuses on the expansion of the Snoqualmie
Campus to provide classroom space for grades 4-8. The campus currently has
five classrooms but ten are needed, along with space for electives such as
technology, art and band. The Facilities Committee of St. Joseph Church and
the Focus
on Our Future Committee are proud to unveil our new two-story design for
the Snoqualmie Campus!! This two-story design allows us a more efficient
utilization of space that will save the much needed playground area for our
students.
The
first phase of the school expansion is approximately $1.3 million with
construction set to begin in early 2006.
Four classrooms will be available in Fall 2006.
The second phase of the expansion, the remaining four classrooms,
will be done as needed based upon school enrollment. The costs for this have
not changed significantly from the beginning of the project over one year
ago. However, the two-story design does mean that more costs will be
incurred at the beginning phase of this expansion so a large part of our
fundraising will need to be completed in the next two years.
How
much do we need to raise?
Our
fundraising goal is an additional $1,000,000 over the next two years. The
project currently has pledges of $260,000 toward this goal and the Focus
on Our Future Committee will be actively soliciting school parents who
have not pledged. All school
parents are asked to make a significant contribution to this project. The Focus
on Our Future Committee is also working on grant writing for
contributions from foundations across the United States.
Remember….the
fundraising for this project continues on…… Your pledges and gifts to
this project are needed more than ever to ensure the success of this next
phase. Pledge forms are in the back of the church and in the school office.
If you would like more information or have further questions on the project,
a member of the Focus on Our Future Committee would be happy to meet
with you at any time to further discuss details or provide a pledge form for
you. Please call Jennifer Ballsmith at 425-396-4251 with any questions.
The
school and parish will be celebrating the successful purchase of the
Snoqualmie Campus and commencement of the expansion phase of this project at
all masses during the weekend of May 14-15, 2005. Committee members, school
staff and parish leadership will be available after all masses to answer
questions regarding the project. Please also stop by the church to view our
new 3D model of the Snoqualmie campus and the artist rendering of the
outside of the facility.
We
would like to thank the following supporters of Focus on Our Future who have
contributed with a pledge or gift to our project as of April 14, 2005:
