Religious Curriculum

Religion

7th Grade

Goals of religion are to develop the students’ religious experience through prayer, recognizing the presence of God, and applying the Bible message. Students also learn about moral decision making, emotional management, gospel living, and goal-setting. Textbook themes include:

Sacraments, Signs of Our Faith: Students will explore how the Church celebrates the seven Sacraments and how we experience the effects of the Sacraments in our daily lives. Themes include the grace of God, and the mystery of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection. Students will study the Sacraments of Christian Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist and the Sacraments of Healing: Reconciliation and Anointing of the Sick.

Jesus, Word Made Flesh: Students will study Jesus Christ as the center of our faith. They will discover Jesus as teacher, healer, prophet, and savior. Focus will be on understanding the importance of scripture, accepting and sharing the gospel message, the paschal mystery and developing a prayer life.

Prayer: Students pray daily using a variety of prayer experiences, both formal and spontaneous. Students attend Mass twice per month in the Snoqualmie campus gym, and help prepare one of these Masses during the year.
