Your volunteer hours are greatly
needed and appreciated. Below you will find a brief summary of the
job descriptions available for the scheduled events and activities
in 2007/2008 school year. This job description sheet was developed
to help as a guide in filling out the Volunteer Sign Up Form. If
you need additional information please contact the Volunteer
Co-Chair Madeline Fish.
FALL
Taking Care of Business Day
– TCBD is the time scheduled for
parents to pick up and turn in all the required documents for the
new school year. Back to Business Day is scheduled for the week
before the start of school in the fall.

Assist in the planning,
set up, managing of information tables or clean up of TCBD.
· Taking
Care of Business Day Chair will lead the planning, scheduling and
management of the TCBD volunteers.
Used
Uniform Sale –
Opportunity to sell or purchase
gently worn school uniforms and accessories. The used uniform sale
will take place at Back to Business Day in the fall and the last day
of school in the spring.
· Assist
with planning, setup, help during the event or clean up of the Used
Uniform Sale events.
· Used
Uniform Sales Chair will lead the planning, scheduling and
management of the Used Uniform Sales Volunteers.
School
Supply Delivery
–
Delivery of school supply kits purchased through school Supply
Company to each classroom.
· Assist
with the distribution of school supplies kits previously ordered by
students to each classroom. School Supply delivery will take place
the week before school starts in the fall.
· School
Supply Chair will lead the management of the school supply
volunteers for both the Issaquah and Snoqualmie campuses.
Parent
Fun Night –
A parent only social event designed
for SJS parents to get to know each other. Event is tentatively
scheduled for early October.
· Assist
in the planning, set up, help during the event or clean up of Parent
Fun Night.
· Parent
Fun Night Chair will lead the planning and management of the Parent
Fun Night Volunteers.
Book Fair
– Issaquah –
Sale of Scholastic Books. Proceeds
benefit St. Joseph School. Book Fair – Issaquah is tentatively
scheduled for mid to late October.
· Assist
with the planning, setup, help during the event or clean up of the
Book Fair in Issaquah.
· Book
Fair – Issaquah Chair will lead the planning, scheduling and
management of the Book Club Issaquah Volunteers.
Book Fair –
Snoqualmie
- Sale of Scholastic Books. Proceeds benefit St.
Joseph School. Book Fair – Snoqualmie is tentatively scheduled for
late October or Early November.
· Assist
with the planning, setup, help during the event or clean up of the
Book Fair in Issaquah. Book Fair – Snoqualmie Chair will lead the
planning scheduling and management of the Book Club Snoqualmie
Volunteers.
· Book
Fair Snoqualmie Chair will lead the planning scheduling and
management of the Book Club Snoqualmie Volunteers
WINTER
School
Christmas Music Festival
– Student
Music Program held at Mary, Queen of Peace. The Christmas Music
Festival is held in the evening the week before Christmas break.
· Assist
in the planning, setup, help during the event or clean up for the
school’s Christmas Music Festival and Reception
Catholic
School’s Week
– Week of school related activities to celebrate our Catholic
Community. CSW is typically held the last week of January.
· Assist
with the planning, setup, and help with one of the activities or
clean up for one of the events planned during Catholic Schools Week.
Catholic School’s Week Chair will work with the SJS Development
committee and the SJS Principal Staff in the planning, scheduling
and Management of the CSW Volunteers.
Special
Person’s Day
– Day for each student to invite a special person in their lives to
come to Mass and tour the School. Special Person’s Day will be
scheduled for the ˝ day Friday at the end of Catholic Schools Week
in January.
· Assist
with the planning, set up, help during the event or clean up for
Special Person’s Reception following the Mass.
· Special
Person’s Day Chair will lead the planning , scheduling and
management of the Special Person’s Day Volunteers.
Sock Hop
– Dance for all SJS families to celebrate Catholic
Schools Week and their Catholic community. Dance is scheduled the
Friday Night of Special Person’s Day in January.
· Assist
with the planning, set up, help during the event or clean up for the
Sock Hop.
· The
Sock Hop Chair will lead the planning, scheduling and management of
the Sock Hop Volunteers.
Spring
Walk-A-Thon
– Saint Joseph School’s student lead fund raising
event. Walk-A-Thon is tentatively scheduled for early May.
· Assist
with the planning, setup, help during the event or clean up for the
Walk-A-Thon.
· Walk-A-Thon
Co-Chairs will lead the planning, scheduling and management of the
Walk-A-Thon Volunteers. Two Chairs are needed.
Spring
Music Festival
– Student Music Program held at Mary Queen of
Peace. The Spring Music Festival is typically held in May.
· Assist
in the planning, setup, help during the event or clean up for the
school’s Spring Music Festival and Reception.
Art and
Science Fair
– Opportunity for students to present a science
project of their choice and to display the many art projects the
students worked on throughout the year. Event tentatively
scheduled for mid May.
· Assist
with the planning, set up, help during the event or clean up for the
Art and Science Fair.
· The
Art and Science Fair Chair will lead the planning, scheduling and
management of the Art and Science Fair Volunteers.
Field Day
– Day of outdoor activities planned for our Saint
Joseph School assigned families to work as a team to demonstrate
sportsmanship. Event tentatively scheduled for the 3rd
week in June.
· Assist
with the planning, set up, help during the event or clean up for
Field Day.
· The
Field Day Chair will lead the planning, scheduling and management of
the Field Day Volunteers.
School
Supply Kit Orders
– Opportunity to purchase school supplies assigned by each teacher
through a school supply company. Orders are taken in late spring.
· Assist
with the planning and ordering of the school supply kits.
· School
Supply Kit Chair will lead the planning and management of the School
Supply Kit Order Volunteers. Ideally the School Supply Kit Chair
will also chair the School Supply Kit Delivery in the fall.
YEAR ROUND
Volunteer
Co-Chairs
– Provide list of volunteers to each event chair, manage volunteer
sign ups in the spring and fall, fill any open positions during the
school year and work with Parent Club to host Volunteer Appreciation
reception the late spring.
Room Parent
– Work with teacher to coordinate events and
activities planned during the year
· Assist
in the planning, communication and management of class assigned
activities with class parents.
· Room
Parent Chair will lead the planning, scheduling and management of
the schools room parents for all Class Assigned events throughout
the school year.
Mentor for
New Families
– Inform new families on how various events and
procedures work at Saint Joseph School.
· Assist
new families by providing answers to any questions a new family
might have. Participate in the planning, set up, help during any
getting to know you events scheduled for new families.
· Mentor
for New Family Chair will be responsible for the planning,
scheduling and management of the Mentor for New Family Volunteers.
Scholastic
Book Orders
– Opportunity to order books though Scholastic Books.
· Assist
with the collation and distribution of Scholastic Book order forms
in the Thursday Communications Envelope. Collect book money and
place orders with Scholastic Books, deliver books to students.
· Scholastic
Book Order Chair will lead the planning, scheduling and management
of the Scholastic Book Order Volunteers.
Year Book
– Saint Joseph Schools annual book of pictures documenting events
throughout the year.
· Assist
with photography, gather pictures, publish the book or manage sales
of the year book.
· Year
Book Chair will work with the seventh grade class teacher and both
campuses year book volunteers to help produce and sale the book.
Spirit
Items –
Sale of Saint Joseph School logo items.
· Assist
with the sales and delivery of spirit items.
· Spirit
Items Chair will coordinate the spirit item orders and sales and
work with Spirit Item Volunteers.
TLC Tender
Loving Care
– Help organize meals for Parish families who have newborns or sick
family members
· TLC
Chair will be responsible for the scheduling of meals for the TLC
families.
Drop Off
Attendant
– Help students get out of cars safely in the drop off line each
morning.
Collate
Weekly Folders
– Help prepare and distribute schools weekly
communications folders.
Gardening
and Mowing
– work with parish to beautify the church and school grounds.
· Work
in the gardens and mow the lawn at either Issaquah or Snoqualmie
campus.
· Gardening
Chair will with the parish to schedule and manage the Garden and
Mowing Volunteers.
