Volunteer Info
St. Joseph Parish School is known for its active and involved parent community. Family contributions of time, whether it be volunteering as a room parent, providing support to the school administration, or sharing your professional expertise, is essential to the strength of our community. Your participation is important and offers a great way to meet new friends while making a difference for our children and their education.
Each family commits a minimum of 45 total volunteer hours (35 for Prekindergarten families) to the school and/or the parishes. The St. Joseph volunteer calendar runs from May 16th – May 15th each school year. Please note that all unserved hours will be billed at a rate of $35 an hour after May 15th each year. Parents, students, other relatives, friends, and neighbors may contribute to the completion of hours. There are many different types of opportunities for service within our community:
-
SJS Dedicated Volunteer Positions come with an allotment of hours and will typically be committed to in advance to allow for planning and preparation of an activity or event. These important positions are fundamental to the success of school events and our children’s education during the year. These positions will be released in two phases: Fall and Spring.
-
SJS Supporting Volunteer Jobs come up throughout the school year and are a great way to support the many academic, community and fundraising efforts of SJS.
-
Parish Volunteer Jobs can be counted towards your school volunteer hours requirement and are another great way to contribute to our community. St. Joseph School accepts volunteer hours served to St. Joseph Parish, Mary Queen of Peace Parish, and Our Lady of Sorrows Parish.
-
CYO Coaches work to develop the whole person by teaching our children the importance of effort, team play, and fun! Hours spent coaching our CYO student sports teams can also be applied to your school volunteer hours requirement.
HOW TO VOLUNTEER
Before volunteering at St. Joseph Parish School, you must complete Safe Environment training through Virtus. The Safe Environment Requirements document outlines the steps you are required to take to complete the requirement.
